The report provides an overview of the crucial user needs issues that were
raised during the course of discussions at the workshop. It
describes the main opportunities and obstacles for the use of digital
resources in the humanities which were raised during the workshop,
addresses the issue of the user needs support landscape, highlights issues
for areas of particular concern (professional development, teaching and
learning with digital resources, the role of digital resources providers),
and makes some recommendations as to further research which needs to take
place.
The next stage

The national expert workshop has preceded five subject-specific workshops
which have been organised by each of the AHDS Service Providers
(Performing Arts Data Service, History Data Service, Visual Arts Data
Service, Oxford Text Archive, Archaeology Data Service). Reports from
each workshop will also be circulated and made available for comment by
the Arts and Humanities community. Please look at
http://ahds.ac.uk/users/newdisc.html for further information about the
subject-specific workshops and reports.
Final report

Conclusions from the workshop series will be brought together
in a single final report. This report will be available in the late summer
of 1998.
