Edinburgh University Library
Director of the Science and Engineering Library, Learning
and Information Centre Project (SELLIC)
A senior appointment will be made to manage development of
the SELLIC project; to oversee its integration within the
Faculty and the University; to establish SELLIC On-Line at
the forefront of international learning technology
developments and maintain its role at the leading edge.
The person appointed will have key responsibilities in the
following areas:
· electronic infrastructure
· teaching materials
· co-ordination
· research
· building development
· income generation

The postholder should have 8 years experience in an academic
or equivalent environment with track record of innovation
and management. Skills such as planning, innovation,
communication (oral & written), liaison, negotiation,
information technology, team building, co-ordination are
essential as are very sound knowledge and experience of
information technology, information management, staff
management, lecturing/teaching. A good honours degree,
preferably in a science based subject, is required and a
postgraduate qualification in teaching, computing or
librarianship/information science, or equivalent experience
would be most helpful.
The post is on the ALC 5 salary range of £29,380-£33,201 per
annum and is tenable for 4 years in the frst instance.
