Hello Jim,
You can do a straight leg raise test en see if the pain gets worsen by
lifting the leg, if it does you can try a pubic belt and do the test
again, if it reliefs the pain it will, wearing the belt, help during to
relief the pain .
Further on you have to learn the patient to exercise the m.abdominis
transversus,(it gives musculary stability in the pelvic) first solitary,
later on in 2 dimensional movemants and later in 3-dimensional movements.
I followed a course at the spine and joint center in Rotterdam, they showed
us that the separation of the pubis is not the cause of the problem, mostly
the problem comes from instability,lack of muscles strenght and SI joint.
The pain causes a different pattern of excersising of the m.abdomins
transversus en lower back muscles, due to the pain they do not work as
stabilizers anymore.
