Hi Everyone,
I have an interesting patient and I would welcome any comment on
this.
This patient is a 52 year old businessman who travels the world
extensively in aeroplanes. He has chronic bi-lateral tennis elbow
which he has had for over a year. He has been responding very well to
physio. He then had a spell of travelling which included a few
flights. He noticed that his pain in the worst elbow increased
dramatically as the aeroplane began its descent. As he progressed
from flight to flight the reaction grew worse. When I saw him again
his 'bad' elbow was very inflammed. Could it be that the pressure
change within the cabin as the plane descended created an increase in
joint pressure within his elbow causing the pain and thereby
increasing the inflammation?
Any Ideas?
