I find that most of these questions are best dealt with by
avoidance ("When a person... it..." -> "When people... they..." etc).
When forced to use a person-description, I've been known to sign
messages simply as "nerd".
On the NUJ pages I/we ask for comments to "the page designers"; on
others, simply to "us" (the organisation or disorganisation
collectively).
