Hi Lesley
It's a good question. There will be conflicts between a desire to make
information available and respecting the privacy of individuals. You may
find that people become increasingly concerned over spammers taking email
addresses from public lists. In addition there is the new Data Protection
Act which should become law by October 1998.
I gave a talk on "Technical Issues Concerning the Use of Personal Data
on the Internet" at a UCISA-MIS Data Protection Briefing Seminar recently.
