Dear all CGFers
I'm hoping that some of you could help out with a few references. Sorry
to ask but...
I'm trying to do a lit. search on 'local rights' or abstractly spaces of
resistance to rights / responsibilities as imposed by the state through
examples where local cultures give rise to what I'm conceptualising as
local, de facto or customary rights i.e where those rights are not
imposed by the nation state or guaranteed by the state (so in the
strictest [neo-liberal] sense not 'rights' at all!). Obviously there are
still customary rights, for example over common land - but what of other
contexts of say, of community /sociation rights/responsibilities. How
are such rights able to co-exist and how are they eroded by capitalistic
relations.
Any ideas? I have some info and some semi-related stuff but I'm sure
there must be some cultural geography type papers that I've missed on
this...
Thanks
Gavin
