The meeting will be on Thusday 9th April at 7.00 p.m. The venue will be the

Lothian Street). The admission charge will be £3 (concession price £1.50

The speaker will be Matthew Pitt MD, FRCP, consultant clinical
neurophysiologist at the
Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children. He will be talking about
ways in which
statistical methods for quality improvement in industry may be adapted to
improve
performance in the NHS. He has been using tools such as SPC to this end in
his work at
Great Ormond Street. He has served on working parties dealing with this
approach including
one set up by the National Health Executive. He is chairman of the British
Deming
Association's Health Group. The meeting is part of an effort to persuade
members of the
NHS of the advantages of seeking improvements with the aid of statistical
tools.
