If you are looking for a good textbook on work (exercise) physiology, try
"Exercise Physiology: Theory and Application to Fitness and Performance"
(3rd ed) by Scott K. Powers and Edward T. Howley (Published by Brown &
Benchmark, 1997). I find it more useful than the text by McArdle, Katch,
and Katch.
