Dear Colleagues
This is just to inform you that the NatWest Financial Literacy Centre
at the University of Warwick coordinates development and delivery of
a range of learning resources and activities designed to help young
people acquire the key life skills of financial literacy.
The definition of financial literacy used is,
"... the ability to make informed judgments and to take
effective decisions concerning the use and management of money".
NFER
Our flagship programme is NatWest Face 2 Face With Finance, launched
in Sept. 1994 and now actively operating in almost 2200 secondary
schools, VI Form colleges and FE colleges in England and Wales.
The programme operates as a partnership, in which trained NatWest
volunteers help plan deliver and debrief the modular programme of
learning activities with classroom teachers.
Although I have sent this information to econ-business-educators,
aspects of the programme relate to key skills development in:
communication
application of number
IT-capability
teamworking
managing own learning and development
problem-solving.
Curricular links to KS3 and KS4 and to key skills development in
GNVQ are outlined in the programme documentation.
