There is a form of massage originating in China which is reported to reduce
spasticity - it is called point percussion therapy, or pointing therapy. I
have no idea whether there have been any studies done on this technique,
but it has been used in Australia, or at least in Victoria, for children
with cerebral palsy. The technique involves using the fingertips to
"percuss" acu-points. I have seen it used by physiotherapists, and they
report (anecdotally) that it does reduce spasticity.
Does anyone know any more about this technique?
