Regarding a lottery system for clinical assignments,
I am an ACCE for a PT program and I instituted a lottery system 2
years ago. The students draw numbers for each of their clinicals,
and are given a list of the sites that offer slots for each clinical.
They have a period of time to research the facilities and also meet
with me for advisement. Then the class meets as a whole and the
first 25 make their selections. The second
25 have one additional week to now research the remaining facilities
and then make their selections. We usually have more slots than we
need (only a few - with the exception of acute care clinicals which
are hard to get). The lottery is totally student driven.
If you have any more questions, just email me.
