I have again spoken to Cambridge. This time they were more apprehensive.
The subject officer said to me "I have to be very careful here as I seem
to have been misquoted. The AICE examination is fewer topics but each
one is to A level standard"
This is exactly what she told me yesterday.
I again spoke to the AICE section and was told that the AICE Business
Studies on its own is on a par with AS level.
This again fits what I had been told yesterday.
In terms of syllabus and papers these are being faxed through today.
So, we have it : same standard but fewer topics. Fewer topics means to
me, less time spent in teaching. I have to make a decision today whether
to go for AEB or AICE for my overseas students.
IF universities accept it as an A level then it is clear which one I
should go for. None of my questions yesterday about ethics (see previous
e-mail) were answered though I did have one private e-mail
congratulating me on bringing this to light.
I stress that I do not know enough information to advise which is why I
ring boards and talk to teachers. I did contact Mike Barratt asking him
to contact me but it is quite possible he did not see the e-mail.
I will keep the group informed.
