OK, OK, I've been lurking for a long time. I have a degree in
theology, but my primary interest in the list is that I am writing a
novel based in Normandy, Italy and Egypt in the period 1030-1100. It
involves the family of Gere (or Giroie) and their destruction by the
house of Belleme. The main hero is the son who was a knight and
doctor, a monk, and eventually a leperous hermit. This part is all
true, by the way. The novel part is filling in the cracks in the
historical record.
So I am interested, inter alia, in monasticism, medieval medicine,
warfare, daily life and spirituality.
Thanks in advance for any hints/bibliography.
