Dear SPM folk,
At our site we use SPM 95 to normalize scans to tailarach space. We've
recently begun to use SPM in MEDx to accomplish this and found that it uses
what seems like a different method to define the origin of the paramater scan
(it is user-defined). We began to question the process of origin estimation
and how it is achieved in different versions of SPM.
My questions:
1)How do SPM 95 and 96 achieve an estimation of the origin (which I presume is
defined as the Anterior Commissure - AC)?
2)How can I know that a good or poor estimate has been achieved?
3)Does SPM choose a location were the AC might be and then refine its estimate
in some way?
4)MEDx version of SPM forces the user to visually choose a point estimate of
the AC .. or the origin. How does this improve the chances that a good
estimate is identified?
5)How do the two methods of origin identification/normalization compare?
Thank you much for your thoughts on this topic. Respectfully, Naomi Zubin
