CALL FOR PAPERS
26th Annual Conference of the Sociological Association of Ireland(SAI)
'The Development Process: Ireland in a Global Context'
Belfast, May 7th-9th, 1999
The Conference theme is "The Development Process: Ireland in a Global
Context". The conference seeks to examine the connections between
local and global processes of development and those between theory and
practice. Papers are welcome on a range of development issues including:
Development Paradigms * Human Rights/ Civil Rights/ Refugees/Migration
* Rural Development * Aid/ artnerships/ NGOs * Conflict/Militarisation
* Women and Development * Environment/ Sustainable Development *
Globalisation/ Marginalisation/ Trade/ Transnationals *
The Development Process in Contemporary Ireland * Local Responses/
Resistance Movements/ Grass Roots Movements * Debt/ Structural
Adjustment * Population/ Health/ Medicine.
Papers on development issues not mentioned above are welcome.
Abstracts should be around 150 words and should arrive no later than
February 5th 1999. All abstracts should be sent to:
