LTPP DataPave Demonstration Workshop
University of Idaho
Sept. 29, 1998
What is LTPP DataPave?
DataPave is a friendly Windows-based software that is developed to access
the Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) Information Management System
(IMS) database. The LTPP IMS database houses the pavement performance data
being collected, stored and managed by the FHWA-LTPP division. The DataPave
software facilitates the data retrieval process and helps the user
understands the different modules and the structure of the highly
complicated IMS database. It is considered a breakthrough in the sense that
it contains the majority of the needed LTPP data on CD. To encourage wide
use of the software, FHWA and ASCE have sponsored the LTPP Data Analysis
contest, which will be held annually. It is open to students from allover
the globe. While the contest is directed to undergraduate students, there
are opportunities for participation from state pavement engineers and
professors under different categories.
Purpose of the Workshop
The demo workshop has three objectives:
* Introduce attendees to the LTPP program,
* Train the attendees on the use of the new software, and
* Discuss the LTPP Data Analysis contest, its prizes, and how to
participate in it.
Tentative Agenda
*
* Introduction to LTPP program
* Demo of DataPave Software
* Hands-on DataPave Workshop
* LTPP Data Analysis
* Examples of Research Findings
* LTPP Data Analysis Contest
* Future of DataPave Software
* Closing and Feedback
Instructors
Dr. Fouad Bayomy (University of Idaho) and Dr. Gary Hicks (Oregon State
University) will teach the Sept. 29, 1998 workshop at the University of
Idaho. Dr. Bayomy is also the host for this workshop and can be contacted
for further details.

Pavement engineers, managers, consultants, administrators and civil
engineering students will benefit from the workshop. Those who intend to
use and deal with LTPP data in any form are highly recommended to attend
especially students who intend to participate in the national contest. The
