Cameron,
You're the research guy - I'm the CAD-CAM guy. You see a lot of feet - I see a
LOT of casts and scans. CAD-CAM orthotics perform significantly better than most
plaster cast approach orthotis. I have seen the comparisons of more than most
anyone except a very small handfull of people. When you have spent as much time
making such comparisons, on real patients, interfacing with some very demanding
biomechanist practitioners, then I won't mind you passing such a harsh
judgement. But until then, please, use a more judicious approach to the topic.
See my previous posts on this for more depth.
By the way, most of the stuff Biomechanics wrote about these systems was HIGHLY
biased stuff, very political, and spent no real time looking at most of the
systems, quite a bit of hearsay, actually. Try talking to the thousands of
practitioners currently making use of the labs that use these ssytems. This is
not to say that all such labs make a superior product, because the use of any
tool still requires skill. But I have personally trained a number of labs in the
use of one such system, and I feel very certain that most of those labs know how
to use the system at a very high level.
So, you verify or disprove biomechanic theory. I, and many others, will employ
whichever of the winning theories using constantly improving CAD-CAM systems. If
you want to slam something, slam foam impressions.
