I believe Craig mentioned this study. Langelaan E. J. van, A Kinematical
Analysis of the Tarsal Joint an Radiographic Study. Acta Orthopaedica
Scandinavica Suppl #204. 1983. Vol. 54. It does refute the two axis theory
with good science. Clinically, you can dorsiflex the MTJ witout abducting it
and you can abduct it without dorsiflexing it. This by itself should refute
the idea that the joint must move about the OMTJ. The van Langelaan paper
describes a method on which joint axes are found and I believe it stresses the
idea that joint axes are imaginary lines that are used to describe motion.
