If the humidity is less than 50%, using a vaporizer can also be
helpful. A Rhinotherm treatment can sometimes be helpful.
Using Hydrogen peroxide on a cotton tipped swab to gently debreed the
area followed by Neosporin ointment 2-3 times a day is helpful.
It is important to have the patient use Ayr nasal spray *very*
frequently in order to keep the nose from drying out. We tell patients
to use it every 10 minutes, knowing that if we tell them that, they
might use it a few times per hour.
It is also important to make sure that they are not using any
antihistamines, antidepressants, etc.
