A male patient aged 38 yrs. attended e.n.t. O.P.D. with h/o bilateral
total deafness since 2 yrs.
Previous h/o C.S.O.M. (left) for which Myringoplasty was done in June
1995. The graft is fine .Hearing was gradually decreased and the patient
was totally deaf by feb 1997. Initial Audiogram showed Mixed deafness ,
later it was showing more of sensory neural deafness.
All the Investigations including V.D R L., Hiv 1&2 were negetive., C.T,
Scan revealed only sclerotic mastoids on both sides.
Stapedial reflex is absent on both sides at all frequencies,
Hearing Aids are not beneficial.,
Wheather this case is Ideal for Cochlear Implant. How much it will
benefit my Patient?
