THE GENERIC DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION PROCESS PROTOCOL

Dear Colleagues and list members

Three years ago the EPSRC under the IMI 'Construction as a
Manufacturing Process' Sector funded a research project which aimed to
develop a Generic Design and Construction 'Process Protocol' (GDCPP)
for the construction industry.

As a result the Process Protocol was produced by the effective
collaboration of a number of organisations from various disciplines
within the construction industry: - Alfred McAlpine (Special Projects)
- BAA plc.
- B.T.
- Advanced Visual Technology ltd.
- Capita
- Waterman Partnership
- Boulton & Paul
together with the University of Salford's research expertise.

The project has reached its conclusion but has also signalled the
beginning of a number of new initiatives (details to follow). The
process protocol has achieved a great deal of interest within the UK
construction industry, including the CRISP Process Group. It is now
used as a framework for a number of academic research studies and
industrial institutions.

For further information, you can visit the project web site at:

http://www.salford.ac.uk/gdcpp

The project team at the University of Salford has produced the final
academic report to the project and generic guidelines to the Process
Protocol. If you would like to purchase the above reports at £50 and
£75 respectively or you would like further information please do not
hesitate to contact (directly):
