Theme: "City, Town and Country: A Sense of Place in Medieval and Early
Modern Studies"
The Society invites papers related to this theme in any branch of medieval
and early modern/Renaissance studies: literature, language, history,
philosophy, history of music, art history, military history, architecture,
neo-Latin, etc.
Some possible areas of interest:
Microhistory
Topography
Real and imaginary worlds / utopian and dystopian writing
millenarianism: earlier perceptions of a "new age"
local "schools" of philosophy, music, painting, etc.
Latinity vs. vernacular
ecclesiastical, civi, military, domestic and dynastic architecture.
