In July the Royal Musical Association is holding its annual meeting in
conjunction with the Society for Music Analysis, the Critical Musicology Forum,
the British Forum for Ethnomusicology, and the Conference on Twentieth-Century
Music (formal title: 3rd Triennial British Musicological Societies' Conference
1999).
Since this is the off-year for most of the `period' conferences that take place
in Great Britain during the summers, we'd like to encourage proposals from those
who feel bereft--and of course attendance. It is not necessary to be a member of
any of these societies for the submission of proposals or attendance.
The conference is hosted by the Department of Music at the University of Surrey,
and the dates are 15-18 July 1999. The University is 35 minutes from London by
train, and easily accessible from London's two main airports, Heathrow and
Gatwick. For the exact location, see the University's web page:
Proposals are invited for:
Individual presentations of 20 minutes' duration
Themed sessions of 3 or 4 papers (one and a half hours total)
Round-table sessions (one and a half hours total)
Poster presentations
Proposals should be sent to the Chair of the Programme Committee (not to the
sender of this message):
