Dear all,
I know this is not a liturgical query (though it has some liturgical
implications), but there has been so little post on this list recently that
I am sure no one will mind:-
Does anyone know of any modern treatments of the phenomenon of lapsed
Christians in the early church. Details of any articles or sections
(however short) of books would be welcome. The only treatment of any
significance I have come across myself is in W. Telfer's well-known (or
once well-known) book "The Forgiveness of Sins". He makes a good deal of
Pliny's reference to ex-Christians in his letter to Trajan. Any pointers to
other modern literature would be appreciated.
