Environmental information is scattered across a wide range of
disciplines. This one day course is designed to introduce
environmental workers, researchers and information professionals to
the rapidly expanding area of environmental information. It covers
traditional printed material, grey literature, online and CD-ROM
sources and the Internet.
The speakers include both experienced information officers from the
British Library Environmental Information Service (EIS) and outside
experts.
2. Environmental Information on the Internet
Venue: The British Library, 2 Sheraton Street, London W1V 4BH
Date: 3 December 1998 (full day)
Price: 175 pounds + VAT (including lunch)
This course looks at how to retrieve environmental information, from
all types of organisation, using the Internet. We will introduce
delegates to a range of key sites on the World Wide Web. The course
offers a mix of short presentations and `hands-on' training allowing
participants to actively develop their skills and knowledge. Delegates
will receive a list of URLs, notes on the different search engines and
a list of free Internet databases. The speakers include experts from
the Environment Agency and the Environment Council.
