We have had a request from our Business School to investigate ProQuest
Direct on the Web (http://www.umi.com/proquest/) which offers online
access to summaries of articles from over 5,000 publications, with many in
full text, full image format.
Earlier this year the Library cancelled its subscription to ABI/INFORM
(which we made available as a networked CD-ROM) in favour of EBSCOhost
Business SourceŽ Elite (http://www.epnet.com/database.html#bs) with access
to abstracts and indexing for over 1500 titles, plus searchable full text
for more than 750 business periodicals.
I intend obtaining trial access to ProQuest Direct, but would be grateful
for information on the comparative merits of these full-text sources from
any libraries or information units which have explored them. If you
respond to me personally I will summarise for the list.
