I would be very interested to know which are the most used
classification schemes for psychology books, both in self-contained
medical libraries and those which are part of a larger, multi-faculty
institution.
At Guy's and St Thomas's hospitals medical libraries, our main
scheme is NLM. In order to have psychology texts shelved adjacent
to related subjects, we use the WLM schedule pioneered (I believe) by
the South East Thames Regional Health Authority in the 1980s.
Any comments on usage, advantages and shortcomings of different
schemes or of reclassification welcome.
Many thanks in advance
