                    I particularly wanted to pass on the news that the 
          British Library is running courses about using Medline in London 
          AND Yorkshire early next year.
              
                    I could understand the viewpoint of those who told me 
          at the HLG conference about the need for a Northern venue. This 
          encouraged us to speed up our plans for a session, which will now 
          be held on February 11th 99. Free British Library transport from 
          York to the Library will be available if pre-booked (its 
          difficult to reach by public transport).
               
                    The course leader is also available to run Medline 
          courses (including Pubmed courses) at your own venue, provided

                    'Making the Most of Medline is an intensive one day 
          training course suitable for anyone with basic online searching 
          experience (Medline or non-Medline). If you would like to search 
          this key medical database more successfully, Making the Most of 
          Medline will show you how.
          
          What you will learn
          During the session you will learn, step-by-step, how to 
          understand and use Medline's Medical Subject Headings ('MeSH') 
          thesaurus. By the end of the course you will be able to:
                    *     Search more thoroughly
                    *     Retrieve more relevant references
                    *     Devise effective search strategies more quickly
                    *     Learn how to adapt your search to get the         
                          references you need
