NHS GETS TOP JOBS ORGANISED!
Challenging and exciting developments in health library and
information services were heralded by the launch this time last year
of HSG(97)47 requiring all Trusts and Health authorities to support
evidence based healthcare with their own strategy for Library and
Information Services. This impetus has recently been reinforced by the
NHSE’s IM & T strategy encapsulated in “Information for Health”.
There is much to be done at all levels but particularly in strategic
development at Regional level.
Of the eight English NHS regions plus Wales, Scotland and Northern
Ireland, six English and two national regions already have strong
co-ordination machinery for Regional LIS in place headed by a Director
or Co-ordinator. The two remaining English regions and Scotland have
received reports with recommendations to establish strategic regional
positions to co-ordinate and develop LIS for all NHS staff.
This message is to alert you to the fact that two new senior library
management positions will be advertised in the near future. These
will be high level posts on an appropriately rewarding salary. This
development reflects the increasing importance and priority being
accorded to co-ordination of LIS within the NHS.
Further information will be posted as soon as it is available.
imminent.
