As a de facto chronicler of the growth of evidence based healthcare I
have decided to compile an archive of research and discussions around
the percentage of treatment that is evidence based. As far as I am
aware this is the first time that the prehistory, the increasing
numbers of "epidemiological studies" from the specialties and
discussions about how best to do such studies have been compiled in a
single resource:
Percentage of Evidence Based Treatment
This is a compilation of studies (and email discussions) concerning
the percentage of evidence based healthcare in various specialties. It
traces the pre-history of the debate and then, following the landmark
study by Ellis et al, 1995, it documents all contributions to the
debate.

This is intended to help newcomers pick up the debate swiftly,
experienced practitioners check that they are aware of all the
studies of this kind AND to avoid the recurrence of the perennial
"Can anyone tell me where I might find.........." message.
Naturally, I have drawn heavily on communications from the
evidence-based-healthcare discussion list with acknowledgement at
every stage, I hope. Would contributors to the debate let me know if
they are happy with how their comments have been framed (and if not
any suggested improvements).
I would also be grateful for any other suggestions and/or details of
omissions. The page can also be accessed via the Netting the Evidence
page (URL below) by going to "P" and looking for "Percentage of....".
May I thanks members of these lists for their various contributions
over the past year.
