Two posts are presently available, one supporting the Faculty of
Science, and the other the Faculty of Engineering & Design. The posts
complete a team of information specialists within the Academic Services
Department of the University Library providing library and information
support to the three faculties and 19 departments of the University.
As a Faculty Librarian you will take responsibility for the disposition
and development of stock and overall services to your faculty, and the
supervision of library staff working within your area. You will also
deputise for the Academic Services Librarian when required.
The Library is extensively computerised and there is close co-operation
with the University Computing Services in the provision of information
services. Candidates should be very familiar with applications of
information technology in libraries, and have a sound knowledge of the
growing range of electronic information sources.
Applications are invited from graduates with a qualification in Library
and/or Information Science and with appropriate experience. You should
be able to demonstrate a professional commitment and a proactive
approach to ensuring the service meets the needs of its users. You must
be highly motivated and a good team worker with excellent communication
and presentation skills.
Salary will be within either Scale 2 or Scale 3 of the salary scales for
University Library Staff, 18,275 - 23,651 or 24,591 - 29,048 per
annum, according to experience and qualifications. These positions
could be suitable for job-share applicants.
