SPECIAL COLLECTIONS (VICTORIA AND EDWARDIAN POPULAR THEATRE COLLECTION)
CENTRE FOR THE STUDY OF CARTOONS AND CARICATURE
Assistant Librarians
We have two vacancies for Assistant Librarians for our major special
collections projects. One post will be ful-time for one year. The other
will be up to half-time, the hours of employment being negotiable within the
period of twelve months. Your main duties will be to organise and catalogue
specialist material in the Theatre and Cartoons collections, and to contribute
to its promotion both locally and nationally.
Collections
Victorian and Edwardian Popular Theatre Collection
. theatre records, playscripts, prints, photographs and other memorabilia
(Melville Collection)
. nineteenth century playscripts and prompt copies (Pettingell Collection)
. pantomine libretti, playbills, programmes and cuttings
. theatrical biography and the history of the stage (Reading Raynor Collection)
Centre for the Study of Cartoons and Caricature
. over 85,000 cartoons covering Twentieth Century British society and politics
. online database of catalogue records for over 6,000 cartoon images
. library of 5000 books on cartoon art
Use of the Collections is actively promoted both nationally and internationally.
Substantial parts of the collections have been catalogued under the Funding
Council's programme for Non-Formula Funding of Specialised Research Collections
in the Humanities and these current posts continue this work. Further informamation

Appointment will be made according to qualifications and experience to a point
of the Administrative, Library and Computing Staff Scale 1 or 2, currently
#15,462 - #23,241.
