Ian Thomson and Mike Cooper will be running another of their successful
"How to find out about the EU" courses at the European Parliament office
in London on Monday 6 July.
The course aims to give a basic introduction to the European Union, its
institutions and the publications and electronic sources it produces.
It's designed for information specialists who may have to deal with EU
enquiries, but who may not be completely familiar with EU policies,
publications or databases.
The programme is as follows:
10.05 - The European Union, what it is and what it does
Find out about the major EU institutions and the part each plays in EU
decision-making.

information
Learn which are the most useful printed and electronic sources for
dealing with a range of enquiries about the EU's legislative and legal
processes.
12.00 - The EU publications programme and EUR-OP. Where to obtain EU
publications and key sources
Find out where to source the documents, databases and CD-ROMs you need.

13.30 - Reference and bibliographical sources
Learn which are the most useful printed and electronic sources for
finding out general background information about the EU.
14.15 - Keeping up-to-date
Find out the best sources to use to keep up-to-date with developments.

Learn the most efficient way of using this powerful tool to trace
information about the EU.

Find out who the other EU information providers are in your area.

The course is organised by the European Information Association and the
cost is 95 GBP + VAT to EIA members and 125 GBP + VAT to non members.
