(Apologies for cross-posting)
Education for Change Ltd is pleased to announce this new series of policy
seminars intended to provide senior librarians and information managers with
briefing and an opportunity to contribute to the to the national debate on
important topics of current interest. There will be plenty of opportunity
for debate and the exchange of views, to which all will be invited to
contribute. There will be places for 50 participants on each seminar.
The first two seminars in the series will be:
22 January 1999:
DIGITAL LIBRARIES: EMPOWERING STAFF FOR THE FUTURE
The Information Society is coming and the future is digital. But how are we
to get there and take our staff with us? This event will be based on the
BLRIC-funded study "What Makes a Digital Librarian?" The evidence may
suggest to managers the need for a major attitude change. Not everyone will
welcome this message! The seminar leader will be Julie Carpenter, a
Director of Education for Change Ltd, and speakers will include other
members of the project team.
8 February 1999:
LONDON LIBRARY DEVELOPMENT AGENCY: THE WAY AHEAD
The Feasibility Report funded by the British Library's Research and
Innovation Centre (BLRIC) will be presented and debated. Will London
provide a model for other regions or will they need to find their own
salvation? This seminar will be of interest to senior staff and opinion
formers from all sectors of the profession and now receives added prominence
in the light of proposals in the DCMS Comprehensive Spending Review. The
seminar will be led by Rob Davies, a Director of Education for Change Ltd.
Speakers will include other authors of the Feasibility Report.
