Strategies for success: information skills sessions that work
Kimberlin Library,
De Montfort University Leicester
24 November 1998, 1.00 p.m. - 5.00 p.m.
If you have ever:
wondered if you should be running your user education in a different way?
worried that therewanted to see how other people ran their sessions?
needed to talk to somebody about evaluating student induction!
This half-day meeting is designed to make those wishes come true! Rather
than focusing on the theory and processes of teaching and educational
design, in this meeting practising librarians talk about their most
successful user education or information skills sessions - and why they
think they work. Participants will look at both content and process, and
thus gain insights into how our teaching turns out in practice. Rather
than offering prescriptive accounts of best practice we will see some
realistic examples of how to do it well.
Because of the diversity of the teaching and training we do, the speakers
have been chosen to represent a range of institutions and student groups,
so wherever you work, we hope that this meeting has something to offer.
