University of Central England in Birmingham
Faculty of Computing & Information Studies
SCHOOL OF INFORMATION STUDIES
BA(Hons) INFORMATION STUDIES; PART TIME STUDY
The BA(Hons) Information Studies programme at the School of Information
Studies
is undergoing revision. The new programme goes for approval on 3rd July
1998.
Therefore, the following statements are of matters that will apply subject
to approval
being granted to the new programme.
The new programme combines updating of the programme which it will replace,
together with extensions to increase opportunities and options made
available as
a consequence of increased specialisms now available to the School.
Also, proposed changes in attendance modes will make it possible to offer
the
course this year to candidates seeking part time attendance for study.
As with the current programme, the new programme will be open to anyone
working
in or proposing to work in an information or library environment, part time
or full time.
As a guide to what sort of employment makes an applicant suitable for the
programme, part time students on the current programme are employed in
public,
school, university, college libraries, information and records centres in
industry and
commerce and information management posts within consultancies, a government
department and the health service.
People who are unemployed or are employed in jobs outside the informaiton
and
library professions but who seek to gain a qualification which will enable
them
to change careers are encouraged to apply for this programme.
Anyone intested in learning about the new programme, particularly if wanting
to
join the programme this Autumn as either a part time or full time student,
please
contact me (DFR) at the address below or by email.
