Please find the CALL FOR PAPERS for the international conference
"TELECOMMUNICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING 1999"
(TET99) to be held in Gjovik, Norway, 8 - 11 June, 1999. 
Special attention will be paid for LIBRARY SERVICES FOR DISTANCE LEARNERS
in this conference.

CALL FOR PAPERS

OBJECTIVES AND GOALS OF THE TET CONCEPT:
to inform about new learning methods; 
to inform about models for organising open and flexible learning, and
distance education; 
practical work with telecommunication systems; 
to discuss future co-operation between the conference participants. 


TOPICS
Classrooms applications; 
Teacher training; 
Distance education; 
Vocational training; 
Workplace training in different subject areas - such as: finance, banking,
management, medicine, science, music, technology; 
University for industry; 
LIBRARY SERVICES FOR DISTANCE LEARNERS; 
International cooperation and project development of Edu-Telecommunication
technology: human, social, pedagogical and psychological aspects. 

KEYWORDS

Telelearning, teleteaching, Internet, Intranet, WWW, ISDN, LAN, WAN,
distance education, lifelong learning, continuing education, electronic
study centres, open university, computer mediated communication, library
services for distance learners.

IMPORTANT DATES:

Submission of abstracts - 15th January 
Notification for acceptance of abstracts  - 10th February 
Submission of full paper - submission of material for workshops - 1st April 
Authors will receive digital `print-outs` for proof reading - during May.

Proceedings will be handed out on registration.

Authors are advised to look upon topics in "a broad sense". We are happy to
receive suggestions for any kind of contribution, such as "long" and
"short" papers, posters, workshops, panel discussions, demonstrations and
so on.


REQUIREMENTS FOR ABSTRACTS AND PAPERS

Participants are invited to submit abstracts for paper of not more than 750
words.

The abstract should contain:

Main title of paper - not more than 10 words 
Subtitle not more than 20 words 
Name and title of author(s) 
Short extract of not more than 100 words to be presented on TET 99 web
information 
Main content 
Equipment to be used during presentation 
The final papers shall not be longer than 10 pages (12 pt fonts) including
tables, diagrams and pictures. Later, you will find a model for the
"lay-out" of papers.

SHORT CONTRIBUTIONS

Participants are also invited to make short contributions. These should not
be longer than 1 page - and will be selected for a 10 minute oral
presentation and/or poster presentation. Please submit a draft at the same
deadline as for abstracts.

WORKSHOPS

Participants are invited to submit abstracts for workshops of 1 1/2 hour or
three hour duration.

The abstract should contain:

Main title of workshop - not more than 10 words 
Subtitle not more than 20 words 
Name and title of contributors to the workshop 
Short extract of not more than 100 words to be presented on TET 99 web
information 
Main content - activities to be implemented during the workshop 
Equipment to be used during workshop 

PRACTICAL INFORMATION:

Full papers:
Time for presentation will be 30 minutes, included questions and discussions. 

Short papers:
Time for presentation will be 10 minutes.

Workshops:
May last for either 1 1/2 or 3 hours. The PC will make final decisions on
the duration after evaluation of content, number of contributors and
discussions with the "leader" of the workshop.

The ratio between paper presentations, workshops, short papers, posters and
panel discussions will be decided later, on the basis of incoming
contributions. The number of parallel sessions will be 2 - 3 depending on
the number of contributions.

Available technology

For paper presentations and workshops, there will be available a large
variety of information and communication technology. All lecture halls and
available labs are equipped with Pentium PCs with following resources:

Connection to Internet. 
Microsoft NT 4.0
Microsoft Office 97
Last version of Netscape browser

Further, a number of lecture halls are equipped with ISDN and
videoconferencing systems for on-line videoconferencing.

Other software may be installed on request, if provided by the contributor,
or if generally available.
