Registry of FTP Mirror Sites on JANET
A list of sites in the ac.uk domain mirroring FTP archives outside
JANET. It aims to direct users to JANET instead of the original
overseas location which may be overloaded, slow and chargeable.
Headings include general large archives, GNU and PC-based Unix, HP-UX,
Apple Macintosh, Unix add-ons (eg shells, elm, Perl), X11, multimedia
and videoconferencing, computer security, commercial hardware and
software.
National Video Service
National visualisation, animation and video service, free of charge
for the UK academic community. Video sequences can be created from a
range of sources, including digital images and analogue video tape.
Possible output format includes video tape, QuickTime, AVI or MPEG
files, CD, Video CD or CD-I. Details of software, training,
procedures, file formats and complementary services are available
online.
Center for Online Addiction
A virtual clinic for cyber-related issues featuring an Internet
addiction test, chargeable email and chat-room counselling, and
information on the impact of the Internet on students. Deals with
aspects of Internet addiction which affect men, women and children at
home, school and work.

A JISC funded programme to deliver a national electronic journal
service to the UK higher education and research community. There is
extensive information about the service and details of all journals
(though as at October 1998 there are no journals available).
Antiquarian Books Cyberstore
Source for tracking and ordering rare books. Database of over 29,000
titles from a partnership of antiquarian booksellers, most of whom are
members of the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers. Based
in Switzerland, but international in scope.
