I am more suprised that he assumes that applicants WITH 5 GCSE can spell &
do basic arithmatic.
Years ago I was taken aback when potential employers in Australia & USA
were not in the least interested in my paper qualifications & insisted on
me doing simple basic tests of ability - some of which I failed. My
mechanical knowledge was negligible & I was unable to give the correct
abreviations for some American states. Basic tests directly related to the
job in hand are always desirable.
