2000 BUG?

A half day seminar on the issues surrounding the Year 2000 Bug and
solutions for the information profession.
The Year 2000 problem can affect a wide range of technologies used by
information professionals, from personal computers through to
appliances containing embedded chips. This half-day seminar aims to
guide the information professional through the issues surrounding the
problem and demonstrate some strategies to make the best use of the
time remaining.

1.30 - 1.45 Registration and coffee
1.45 - 2.30 The Year 2000 problem and the information profession
Anne Faulkner, Open University
This presentation will cover the nature and scale of the Year 2000
problem from the point of view of the information professional.
2.15 - 3.30 Ready for Year 2000?
Alasdair Kemp, Institution of Electrical Engineers
This presentation will discuss in detail Year 2000 problems,
discussing where and how they occur. The focus of the presentation
will be on the use of the time remaining to the best effect.
3.30 - 4.15 Managing the legal risks of Year 2000
Lyn Barkow, Withers
This presentation will include a discussion of the legal position
between a software supplier and the user, between a service provider
and its customers and the sharing of information as a way of
minimising liabilities and disputes.
4.15 - 4.30 Questions and discussion
FEES
IIS members: £50 plus VAT = £58.75
Non-IIS members: £60 plus VAT = £70.50
The fee includes coffee/tea.
Registration will be confirmed upon receipt of the full fee. The fee
cannot be refunded for non-attendance or cancellations received after
