ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN (DOCUMENT SUPPLY SERVICES) - MATERNITY LEAVE COVER
The Library of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) is seeking an
Assistant Librarian to be based at its headquarters in Savoy Place, London,
WC2. The IEE represents the public, professional and educational interests
of over 140,000 electrical, electronic and manufacturing engineers
worldwide. Key activities include publishing, the organisation of
conferences, the maintenance of technical standards, interaction with
government departments, and the provision of scientific, technical and
business information services.
The main purpose of the post, which will be offered initially on a
fixed-term contract of at least 6 months, is to be responsible for all
aspects of the IEE Library document supply service. This comprises the loans
service, inter-library loans and the photocopy service. The main duties
include providing and maintaining an auotmated inter-library loans service;
administering fee-based and self-service photocopy services; supervising a
Library Assistant; cataloguing and indexing; and enquiry desk and user

Candidates should be graduates with a library/information science
qualification or experience. The IEE offers a 35-hour flexible working week,
together with free lunches and excellent working conditions. The salary
scale for this post is £15,195 - £18,035.
