Hi,
What would be another good idea is to have a separate list for job
vacancies - though I believe the Library Association keeps a list
along these lines.
I, for one, am astonished at the volume of mail that lis-link
delivers to my PC, and it could on occasion significantly eat into
my time at work (if were silly enough to let it !). There simply is
never enough time to read all that is sent, and the sheer volume does
seem to be growing exponentially - so perhaps we should separate
out. After all the LA already has various interest groups. One (say a
genuine discussion list) on cataloguing, or IT applications in
libraries would be interesting - with a general list to cover topics
such as "How do I find...?", or "Did anyone record the TV
programme...", and "We have some spare back issues..". All practical
stuff. So I'm not attacking relevance of the content of most e-mails.
Just the volume.
Well, that's my 2p's worth - if you have't time to read this, just
delete it. I'll understand !
Cheers

I agree.
Surely it's time Mailbase lists were set-up to advertise courses and
conferences.
For librarians etc. we could have lis-courses or lis-conf, maybe?
