Thanks to all who responded to my query. Several people asked for
responses to be summarised (see below). Any further responses appreciated.
I've tried DC-dot experimentally - we haven't made extensive
use of metadata yet - but I did find it pretty quick and easy.
I haven't tried any of the other methods, so I would be very
interested in any responses you get about them.

It depends how much metadata you wish to include. At Brunel we created a
small file called meta.h which could be inserted into each page and edited
on the fly. This file acts as a kind of template such that we just need
to add the date, the url and a few select subject headings. With some web
management tools you may be able to do a global update but we are not yet
that advanced!

I used DC-dot for my web pages and found it very useful and simple to
use, especially for someone who knew very little about Dublin Core.
What I particularly liked about it was that it gave you a good set of
basic meta tag info which was easy to improve on once you had a
better grasp of DC.
