Archives Division: Assistant Archivist
Salary range £16,045-£22,785 (Academic related grade 1/2)
plus £2,134 London Allowance
We are looking for an experienced archivist to take up the
permanent position of Assistant Archivist in the Archives Division at
the BLPES.
The Archives Division administers the archive and rare book
collections of the BLPES covering the social and political history of
the 19th and 20th centuries. It is responsible for acquisition,
preservation, archival description (including the use of automated
systems) and the provision and encouragement of access to the holdings.
Its staff currently total 7 FTE. The post holder will be involved in all
aspects of the Archives Division's work, with particular emphasis on
archival description and the provision of user services. In addition the
postholder contributes to the Library's public enquiry services and some
evening and Saturday duties are required.
The successful candidate will be a professionally qualified
archivist with 2-3 years experience of archive work. An interest in
archival description and the development of automated archive systems
and implementation of developing international archival standards is
essential. Experience in the provision of user services and interest in
supporting the needs of researchers is highly desirable.
Appointment will be on the Academic Related Scale Grade 1/2
according to qualifications and experience. Other benefits include five
