OK we couldn't let this one go as some of us remembered reading the
books (showing our age...), so we rang the Museum of Childhood and the
books were called:
Five dolls in a house and Five dolls and their friends (there may have
been others) The author is Helen Clare (which is a pseudonym for
Pauline Clark(e)) and the girl was called Elizabeth and the dolls called
her Mrs Small.
Now we all feel a lot better for knowing that... except that books I
read as a child are now considered museum pieces...:-)
