I've been subscribed to the list for a few weeks now and I thought it time that I introduced myself.
I'm a second year PhD student registered at the Centre for Science
Studies at Lancaster(previously CSSSP and part of Independent Studies for those of you who
might remember it from the '96 conference here)
I'm looking at issues of knowledge, practice and
value in relation to places of nature conservation importance. A little
more specifically, I am focusing upon the ways in which 'expert' and
'generic' forms of understanding condition the 'reality' and
the meaning of specific places which are perceived as being more or less
'natural'. My research is a 'CASE' studentship with the National Trust as
collaborative body. I'd be very pleased to hear from anyone with interests
which might overlap with this bare description of my research.
Finally, can someone tell me how to join IRNES in a less virtual way?: and
where and when the '99 conference is to be?
thanks
Matthew
