University of Glasgow
Department of Computing Science
Lectureships (3 posts)
Lecturer A/B - £16,045-£27,985 per annum
REF: 280/98AL
The Department wishes to make three appointments, one permanent and two
fixed term for two years. The permanent appointment will be on the
Lecturer A or B and the fixed term appointments on the Lecturer A scale.
Applicants will be considered from any area of computing science, but
preference will be given to those who match our teaching commitments and
who complement or strengthen our research interests, see
http://www.dcs.gla.ac.uk/. The posts are available from 1 January 1999.
The Department has demonstrated the highest standards in both teaching and
research. We are actively developing new courses, at both undergraduate
and postgraduate levels, and have a thriving research community.
Applicants must possess the enthusiasm and ability to fit into a dynamic
academic environment, together with appropriate experience in teaching and
research. Although the successful candidate will have the opportunity of
teaching within his/her specialist area at undergraduate and postgraduate
level there will also be a requirement to teach general Computer Science
modules outside of any particular specialisation.
The appointments will be offered to the candidates whose computing science
research potential is of the highest quality. A good fit with the research
developments in the department would be an advantage. The ability to
deliver in-depth courses in the areas of software engineering, computer
systems or digital communications will be valued highly. It is assumed
that any successful candidate will be capable of teaching any aspect of
computing at an introductory level competently.
