Collaborative Studentship: innovation in the UK petroleum exploration
and production industry
ESRC Collaborative (CASE) Studentship in Technology Studies, between The
University of Edinburgh and The Centre for Marine and Petroleum Technology
Applications are invited for a collaborative PhD studentship awarded jointly
to the University of Edinburgh Doctoral Programme of Social and Economic
Research on Technology and The Centre for Marine and Petroleum Technology,
to investigate the process of innovation in the UK petroleum exploration and
production industry; the role of public sector research and the implications
for how the industry might further develop its links with university
research.
The studentship is for 3 years full time, starting October 1998, and
includes an additional 1,325 pounds pa from the collaborating company. It is
open to UK or EU students (ESRC rules of eligibility apply.) Applicants
should have a good honours degree (i.e. 2:1 or 1st class) or an M.Sc.. A
background in the industry or innovation studies or social science methods
would be advantageous.
