The Millennium Bug - A Health Problem?
*******************************
-...The year 2000 poses massive challenges for world healthcare
organizations. Failure to protect healthcare organization computer
systems adequately from the Year 2000 Problem will almost certainly
result in serious disruption to healthcare services; loss or harm to
patients; financial losses to healthcare organizations; adverse
publicity; litigation...-
[M.F.Smith & Chris Dowd 1997]
The year 2000 problem is, in some people's eyes, the latest overhyped IT
scare. Yet to others it is a cataclysm worthy of the doomsday prophet.
The programme has gathered some of the leading experts in the country
to address the following key questions:
* Are we giving the year 2000 the attention it deserves?
* Transition for the year 2000: Are we ready?
* What is the problem?
* What are the implications for the NHS, its staff and its
patients?
* What should be done to cope with the problem.
This conference/workshop, therefore, is aimed at health care
professionals, managers and IT staff working in the NHS.
The afternoon workshops will cater for beginners and experts,
allowing exploration of key issues and sharing of experiences and
good practice.
